Default "Fist Fighter" class?

This is a random idea i had the other day, how about a sort of boxer class? They could use brass knuckes and such, with skills like knockdown/knockout blow or left and right hook...

I cant work out how to come up with the skills stats, so i thought i would just post this and see what people think? maybe someone wants to work on the idea... feel free

This isn't much of an idea, a general fist fighting ability would be interesting if embelished well in a class idea, but overall fist fighting alone is very weak.

The god honest truth is that combat includes weapons, the simple improvement of combat strength with weapons is evedent even for a so called fist fighter. In combination with other abilities or weapons it can be interesting, but by itself it is unorthodox and silly. Unless their physical attacks are augmented with some sort of magical addition or physical advantage (like shapeshifting or something), or as a side ability along with an actual weapon, it really isn't realistic.

In all of my ideas which include any kind of physcial/unarmed attack, it either included swaping in and out between weapons and unarmed, magical aid, transformation, or something of an enhanced nature, unarmed combat alone is a joke. Personally I expected the Assassin type class to involve dual wielding and hand to hand combat, perhaps at the same time. Assassin does actually have some "Palm Strike" attacks and stuff of that nature, they could still make a class with actual hand/foot combat, but It needs to have some sort of edge.

And in case you didn't notice, this sort of idea has come up multiple times, you should scan through the collection of class ideas before throwing up the suggestion for someone to develope your idea when they already have.

With a fist fighting class, you could have the weapons be gauntlets or fighting gloves of some sort that would use both hands. I actually was thinking about this the other day and i was trying to think up some good skills and attributes for this class. Let me just offer my opinion:

Attributes
Body (Primary Attribute): for every rank in body, gain +1 maximum health and for every 3 ranks gain +1 maximum energy. Skills that use Body as their attribute become more effective with higher ranks. (Not really sure if this would be a viable bonus from a primary attribute, but since i am coming up with this stuff as i sit here and write it, it's all i can think of. I have the sneaking feeling that this kind of attribute is already around so feel free to comment.)
Fists: No inherent effect. Skills that use Fists as their attribute become more effective with higher ranks.
Legs: No inherent effect. Skills that use Legs as their attribute become more effective with higher ranks. (With these two skills it is pretty obvious what kinds of attacks will be associated with them)
Mind: No inherent effect. Skills that use Mind as their attribute become more effective with higher ranks. (Skills under this attribute would be augmenting abilities such as enchantments and hexes and maybe a couple of attacks that would do shadow or holy damage.)

Skills
Sweep: Kick attack. Your target and all adjacent targets are knocked down for 1...3 seconds and take 2...25 damage. (Attribute: Legs)

Uppercut: Punch attack. Target foe takes 5...30 damage and is dazed for 2...8 seconds. (Attribute: Fists)

Mind Blast: Ranged attack. Target foe moves 33% slower for 5...15 seconds and is dazed for 5 seconds. (Attribute: Mind)

Master's Dexterity: Elite Stance. For 5...18 seconds, you have a 75% chance to dodge attacks. This stance ends if you use a skill. (Attribute: Body)

*Note that all of these were thought up on the spot, so please don't flame me for being a noob or anything of the sort. This is all just a rough outline of things.

Gauntlets are common among Warriors as well, so it isn't much of a weapon, and comparing a Gauntlet Fist to a Hammer Blow is just silly.

I can probably bring up the fact that this is a weapon which would have to phase in with armors used by other classes as well, seeing as any other class can use it with this class as secondary, and equiping a set of Claws or Gauntlets over a set of exsisting gauntlets is rather silly.

If you really want to get technical, Elementalist's would just rip everyone apart by making meteors fall from the sky onto everyone. It's obvious the game isn't horribly realistic in those terms.

I actually thought of something like this before Nightfall as released, always thought it would be a fun class.

Well I'll take this chance to trow in my own vieuw of unarmed combat.
It's benefit to using a weapon is the pysical contact, you make a closer contact to the target, this adds interesting capabiletys.
Fealling for instance; you can touch and feel your target if you have your hands free, this allows for pressure point based skills, that parelise your foe or specific lims for a while.
Grabbing; not holding anything allows you to hold your opponent, this opens up skill lines that floor, toss or pinn your opponent.
Energy transferance, sertain magic will be stronger when physical contact is presant, though GW probably covers this just fine with touch attacks, still some preperations that affect unarmed weapons might have a use.

As for unarmed weapons(yes weapons, I know it is language wise wrong but I'm calling them that, sue me)
A unarmed weapon has to be equipable, without inscriptions and upgrades and bonuses it would just be unfair and unbalanced and not verry GW like(a class that does not have any greens imagine that)
They should be katras, a katra is sort of like a combat style, its a martial arts thing and is a beginning positions and all the assotiated actions.
For with most martial arts youre suposed to move way to fast to see and anticipate what your opponent is doing, else they could see what your next action would be which would be bad.
There for they practice catras, sort of like a dance really 1...block...2...punch...kick...3 they are there in short and long, simple and complicated, deadly or subduing varietys.
I think every form of martial arts has more than one katra, kunfu has at least 23 likely more, as people often say to have their own style of it.

These katras would be equipable as 2 hand items, and have pretty small damage but really fast reswing times 0.60-0.80 like I guess, and effects on the X'th attack and X% to cause <effect> on the X'th attack. the last attack slowing your attacks for a while, mimicking the time needed to ready yourself for a combo again.

That said I think assasins do have some sort of hand to hand covered, though its not really anything more than a few touch attacks, instead of fully creating a new class I see hand to hand being implemented as a abilety to first monks and maybe assassins.

Monks because it fits their theme(seen them dance have you?) assassins becasue they already have some and would ofcouce not be able to be left behind if it where extended.

monks could like have a katra that blocks melee attacks on the first and third strike, instead of dealing damge assotiated with protection prayers.
For smiting prayers they could have katra that is more aggresive and may knockdown foes.

Disclaimer
Note that I said sort of like styles or dances, it is in truth much more complicated with 1 katra having 5 diferent befinnings transferring into the same folowup, and anticipations for which way to go through a catra depending on the opponent and situation, making anticipation nessesairy.
I was just giving a very rough idea of what it is about, an expert will agree I am definatly nor qualefied to explain something like martial arts.

lol so what if its a bit unreal. personally it seems like it would be a fun class to play, using fist and kicks and such..

may want to use something like the rits weapons making you more powerful for an amount of time,

fist of ice (also possibly fist of fire would be flaming hands and set on fire for ___ seconds) ....makes you do ___ ice damage for a set amount of time transforming your hands into an icy spikes, when this (spell? skill?..new type?) is activated all adjendict(cannot spell) foes are slowed 66% for ___ seconds.

just an idea id thought i throw down..instead of fighting with just plain fists, you can give fighting buffs to yourself (possibly allis) to transform your fists into varius weapons.
